Relaunching a Newsletter with Thought Leadership & Youth Voice

The challenge
Our nonprofit hadn’t sent a newsletter in years, which meant we were missing chances to drive deeper connection with our community. I saw an opportunity to bring it back with purpose.

The strategy
I proposed a monthly series featuring internal thought leaders. The goal: content that’s timely and brings real value to our audience. We launched in January, and I tied the launch to National Mentoring Month.

The execution
I pitched a blog post idea to our resident youth expert:
What Youth Need from Us in 2025.

Then I:

  • Collaborated on edits to shape the piece

  • Aligned blog publishing with our newsletter send

  • Shaped how we framed the piece in the email to highlight its value and drive engagement

The outcome

  • Revived a dormant newsletter channel

  • Started a new rhythm for thought leadership content

  • Saw our highest open and click-thru rate in a long time
